Sensory Room

What is a Sensory Room?

At The Toronto Cheder we strive to reach and teach all aspects of the developing child. Our sensory room compliments our in-class activities by allowing children to meet their sensory needs that enhances their ability to learn. Time spent in the sensory room restores the child’s equilibrium, enabling them to be calm and focused and maximizes classroom participation.

Swings

The swings allow the children to receive vestibular input that children crave. They fill the needs of a child to swing, twirl and balance, which helps develop the nervous system.

Tactile Sensory Bins

The sensory bins allow the boys to explore with sand, water and rice in an open ended way.
The tactile quality calms the nervous system, which helps the child pay attention and follow instructions.

Climbing Wall

The climbing wall provides a challenge for active boys. It develops core muscle strength.
Core strength improves a child’s focus while sitting at table activities or circle time.

Quiet Corner & Bean Bags

This center provides a soft space which helps the children recoup and rest from sensory overload. Spending time quietly will reset a child and recharges them to learn at full capacity.
